Welcome to the Bay Head Historical Society and Museum

This 1867 farmhouse, with its outstanding interior woodwork, has been restored to its former glory. The museum is home to memorabilia and the history of life at the head of Barnegat Bay. The front room is a gallery dedicated to the paintings by Gerard Rutgers Hardenbergh and permanent historical displays. The remaining spaces are for changing displays of local area interest and local art. The summer garden, featuring a seagrass garden, is part of our expansive grassy area, complete with picnic tables under a large shady tree. Completing the complex is the Slade Dale Cottage, a unique space that highlights a noted sailor and his boats. The museum is open to the public, and it is suggested that non-members make a donation.
